Choosing Interior Paint Colours

We can help you choose the right paint colours with different approaches dependent on your preference.

We can consider colour psychology, coordinating with your chosen furniture and decor or perhaps based on the mood you want to create for that particular room.

Types of Interior Paint

There a number of options when it comes to choosing paint – oil-based, water-based and the emerging eco-friendly paints, the finish you’re after – matte, eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss.

There is no one size fits all approach for these things. It really depends on what we’re painting, the environment and of course the appearance you want. Our clients will often choose more washable paints for their hallways and kitchens, and less durable paints for other areas.

We are happy to advise on the best paint for a particular job as it will have a direct impact on the final finish, how durable it is and performance over the longer term too.

Choosing the right sheen for each room

So you’ve finally picked your perfect colour palette but now you’re looking at all the sheen options, and wondering which one to go for?

Ultimately, it’s personal preference and the sheen will impact the final appearance of the surface being painted. So if your heart is set on a matte finish then go for it!

We do however like to advise all our clients on the pros and cons of choosing a certain sheen.

The most durable options for areas where you may have children, are cooking etc. are semi-gloss or gloss paints. The reason being these are more washable than matte finishes which will mean your freshly painted surfaces stay looking sharp for longer!

When it comes to bathrooms, choosing a moisture resistant paint will go a long way to fend of that mould and mildew.
